What’s it all about?

Welcome to our updated site. If you’ve been here before you’ll notice quite a change in style – both visual and in tone. There are plenty of new features to explore. If you are new here, then we hope you will get a lot out of the content. If you can think of things to improve it then let us know.

The ‘Handle It' initiative started in 2003 as a web-based resource, with the aim of helping you get more out of your bike, and also to help limit the numbers of bike casualties – particularly on rural roads. ‘Handle It’ is here to try to protect you, your licence, and your freedom to ride.

The team behind this project are essentially motorcycling professionals from a variety of backgrounds including traffic engineers, motorcycle instructors, and police riders. We are all passionate about motorcycling, and we hope our enthusiasm and experience comes through in this site. You’ll also see some of our input on the national DVD ‘Great Roads Great Rides'.

For those of you who want to put the advice and tips contained in this site into practice, the team offer rider development courses in the north of England . Visit the ‘Skills Enhancement' section for more details.

We are grateful for the support of the Highways Agency, some Local Authorities, and (believe it or not) even some Safety Camera Partnerships.
